Sample Press Release - Anthony Mora Communications
Sample Release
The following press release is a good illustration of how thinking
outside of the box, can lead to major media coverage. Although the
focus of our Vista del Sol campaign (a long term health care center) is
the aging of America, it was this release about Precious, the canine
employee, that caught the attention of NPR, the Los Angeles Times, the
New York Times, NBC, CBS and other media. Our client could easily have
dismissed this approach. From her perspective she did not hire us to
write a release about a dog, but she was savvy enough to understand our
objective. She supported our approach and that made all the difference.
I'm pleased to add that the release caught the attention of the media,
the public and publishers. She was recently offered a book contract from
a major publisher.

Famed Canine Employee
Pet Therapist Celebrates Her First Anniversary
Many employers give birthday celebrations for their employees, but few throw a birthday bash for the company dog. Precious is a white 10 lb., half-poodle, half-Lhasa Apso, and one of the most valued employees at Vista de Sol, a long term care facility in Culver City, California.

According to studies, pet owners: - visit the doctors less often and use less medication on average, have lower cholesterol and lower blood pressure, recover more quickly from illness and surgery, deal better with stress and are less likely to say they are lonely.

Stella Henry, RN, BSG, LNHA, the founder and director of Vista del Sol and author of the upcoming book "Difficult Choices, Compassionate Solutions," is a national expert on aging and has been featured in both the local and national media. Stella noticed the positive interactions that the residents had whenever she brought the family dog for a visit. Soon, pets of various kinds became regular guests at the center. Vista Del Sol now has a full-time resident dog and several birds. Often, it is the residents' interactions with these animals that help to revitalize their mood and restore their memory.
Tuck-in Service, With a Canine Touch:
Precious makes the rounds at night, jumping up on beds to say goodnight. Stella Henry, R.N., co-founder and director of the nursing home with her husband Terry, says that Precious has a wonderful effect on the residents. Attendance and laughter increase as Precious enters the Activities Room, and residents constantly enquire about her health, moods, and whereabouts.
Although Vista has two dogs, Moki and Precious, and several birds (Alika speaks English, Spanish and Bird) who make the regular rounds, monkeys, snakes, and exotic birds are but some of the animals who have visited the facility. This unique therapy helps bring residents out of depression and isolation, and can make a huge impact on the quality of life for the aged. According to Stella, some of her most valued "employees" are dogs and birds.
